SUMMARY:theCollective Discipleship Now
DESCRIPTION:What? theCollective Disciple Now: An experiment for grassroots radicals\n“South Tulsa Metro Area Super Summer DNOW”\nWhat if instead of doing something “big” we did something radical? What if instead of pooling all of our monies\, resources\, and efforts we strategized a kind of engagement that would span church affiliations and social circles? The history of Discipleship-NOW (or DNOW or a Mid-Winter Localized Discipleship Retreat) is storied. Over twenty years ago a few churches in Texas decided that they didn’t want to wait around for a camp experience every summer to engage at a high level of discipleship with their students. So they created the first Discipleship Now Event (DNOW!). In the last ten years we have seen the rise of collaborative DNOW events that span neighborhoods and cities\, vaulting in scale and connectivity. What then will this next decade hold for a discipleship effort aimed at student engagement and growth? Enter #theCollective. \nWho the Collective?\n2015 Partnering Churches:\nFBC Jenks- Cody Brumley\nParkview Baptist Church- Tyson McIntyre\nSouthern Hills Baptist Church- Zac Workun\ntheGathering- Monica Bonilla\nCanyon Road Baptist Church- Jeremy Coleman\nRiverview Baptist Church- Josh White\nSpiritLife Church- Trey Wideman \nWhy the Collective?\nIt is not about the scale of the event but the commitment to partnership and community. We want to broaden our students collective vision of what Church means. For both the communities that we serve and the greater unity of the Church we have worked tirelessly to plan this event. The goal of Common-Unity will be established through developing a series of events that stress the “middle ring” of socialization by specifically designing and tiering towards maturity. Bottom line we are reshuffling the kids up on purpose and in new places. The strength of our collective partnership will not only be in our numbers but also in our coordination. This weekend event represents a wide-scale coordination to achieve a multiplicity of events and weekends that strength the unity amongst our churches.
